Making our Community Safer, More Just, and Stronger

Our team President, David Holloway and Head Coach, Faisal Al-Hassan Chibsah issued a statement today affirming some core principles and values of our team.

First State FC stands in support of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless other black citizens who have been victimized by police brutality in this country. We also stand behind every man, woman, and child who is fighting to make this country safer and more just for minorities.

This organization was founded on the principles of integrity and community. (We’re not just saying that, check the tag on any of your First State FC gear).

We don’t have all the answers to these big questions right now, but we do know three things:

  1. BLACK LIVES DO MATTER. They matter to us and they should matter to everyone.

  2. Sports can be one of the most powerful unifying forces on the planet. We will continue to use the beautiful game as a way to pull this community closer together.

  3. TALK IS CHEAP. Many organizations across the globe, including many sports teams, have issued general statements condemning systemic racism, police brutality, and the like. While we agree with those words, we do not think words are enough. Therefore, First State FC will be donating $5,000 to local organizations dedicated to addressing the systemic injustices that persist in this country.  Details on the specific organizations to follow.

Any community is only as strong as its most vulnerable members. Change won’t happen overnight, but we are committed to being part of that change.
